Derek Jarman Lightbox #1 — A2 Fine Art Print by Gavin Evans, Edinburgh 1993
Derek Jarman, photographed in Edinburgh, 1993. This A2 lightbox fine art photography print by Gavin Evans is composed of six sequential black and white studio portraits of Jarman — nude, and made the year before his death in February 1994. Filmmaker, painter, and activist, Jarman was one of the most uncompromising figures in British cultural life of the twentieth century; his films — Sebastiane (1976), Jubilee (1978), Caravaggio (1986), and Blue (1993) — remain a foundational reference in queer visual culture. These are among the last formal portraits made of him. Part of The Lightbox Series – The Bigger Picture.
