In this charged portrait, Iggy Pop stands bare-chested, arms outstretched- body suspended. Photographed by Gavin Evans in 1996 against a bleached white background and adorned with black feathers.

Taken during the same now-iconic session that produced covers for Time Out London and Time Out New York, the portrait went on to feature in biopic-iggy pop published by Canongate Publishing. The pose is pure theatre — dramatic, powerful, and layered with religious and performance contradiction..

As the voice and energy behind The Stooges, Iggy Pop has made his body a canvas for rebellion. This portrait makes that canvas mythic.
