Photographed by Gavin Evans in 1996, during the iconic session that produced the covers for Time Out London and New York, this image also features in the acclaimed biopic-iggy pop biographical photo book, published by Canongate. It’s a portrait that blurs the line between punk performance and shamanic presence.

As the boundary-breaking frontman of The Stooges, Iggy Pop transformed performance into something primal and sacred. This portrait captures that liminal state.
