Masta Killa — A3 Fine Art Print by Gavin Evans, London 1997
Photographed in London, April 1997 for Time Out magazine. Masta Killa, born Elgin Turner, is the last member to have joined Wu-Tang Clan before the recording of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (1993) — his sole verse on the album, closing track Tearz, announced a lyricist of precision and economy. Named after a kung fu film, as all nine members were, he has sustained a solo career across multiple albums while remaining a consistent presence in Wu-Tang collective releases. This portrait was made during a group session with all six members, captured by Gavin Evans in the year of Wu-Tang Forever (1997).
