RZA #1 — A3 Fine Art Print by Gavin Evans, London 1997
Photographed in London, April 1997 for Time Out magazine. This fine art photography print by Gavin Evans presents a close-up studio portrait of RZA, born Robert Fitzgerald Diggs — both fists pressed to his temples, the frame tight and confrontational. De facto leader of Wu-Tang Clan and the architect of the group's sound, RZA constructed the dense sonic language that defined Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (1993) and shaped East Coast hip-hop for a generation. This portrait was made during a group session with all six members in the year of Wu-Tang Forever (1997).
